Metal Content of Brass Fittings

The following information should help you better understand our product.

Our Brass Fittings contain between 2.5% - 3.7% lead, depending on the type (see below).

• The U.S. EPA office of Water Management document # EPA-5709/-89-BBB dated 8/1998 has defined 'lead free' as fittings that contain NOT MORE THAN 8% lead by weight.
• As regards the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union citation 2002/95/EC - "Restriction of Hazardous Substances" Directive, - commonly known as RoHS, and found in the Official Journal of the European Union dated 13NOV03 (see Applications of lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium, which are exempted from the requirements of Article 4,) line #6 states "...lead by weight and as a copper alloy containing up to 4% lead by weight.

Since our brass fittings fall below the U.S. 8% and RoHS 4% standards, we believe our fittings fall within the necessary required guidelines.
